BackXPress adds back-of-device finger pressure as temporary quasi-modes so thumbs keep using the front touchscreen; prototype uses two iPhones strapped back-to-back with a pressure-sensitive back and software that locks pressure on frontal tap. User studies show index, middle and ring fingers (both hands) are practical, middle fingers give the best control, and participants reach up to 92% pressure accuracy for three pressure levels above resting. Design recommends landscape phones, 500 ms pressure-history lookup to improve detection.
