HandOver: Enabling Precise Selection & Manipulation of 3D Objects with Mouse and Hand Tracking
summary
HandOver combines a mouse-driven depth-adaptive 3D cursor with hand tracking so lifting a hand into a ~5 cm trigger region spawns a hand replica at the cursor for direct manipulation. A working prototype is evaluated with 17 participants against Ray and Ray+Hand in a 3D docking task: lower docking errors across distances, faster targeting at far distance, lower RULA scores and better NASA‑TLX ratings. Known issues: cursor is easy to lose in free space and near-field targeting can slow down.
