BitLight encodes tracking data into the sub-frame bit timing of a 60 Hz DLP projector, using 24 temporal slots per frame to carry multiple bits per pixel and trading bits among nearby pixels to speed decoding. A prototype with off-the-shelf DLP + cheap photodiodes + low-end microcontroller localizes a sensor in 9.5 ms average (about 20× faster than frame-level methods) with 2.1 mm accuracy, tested across 12 video clips while measuring visual-quality tradeoffs.
