What's new in Android
summary
Android 12 delivers concrete changes: a system-wide, wallpaper-driven color palette and Material NEXT theming; a new splash screen with Activity.getSplashScreen and AnimatedVectorDrawable support; trampolines are blocked for apps targeting S so notifications must start activities directly; notification templates overhaul and full custom RemoteViews deprecation; AVIF support for smaller higher‑quality images; setRenderEffect blur API, audio‑coupled haptics, stretch edge effect, clipboard‑access toasts, and setExpedited via WorkManager for short foreground work.
