Heaptrack is an open-source Linux heap profiler that records a stack trace for every allocation and reports number of allocations, peak bytes at each code location, and leaked bytes, while remaining notably faster than massif. It injects via the LD_PRELOAD trick and supports runtime attach, uses libunwind + libbacktrace to map IPs to functions/lines, and emits a format visualized by the Heaptrack GUI (and convertible to massif). Adds flame-graph and histogram views; GUI is work-in-progress but the collector already works on real applications.
