Sound and Modular Activity Analysis for Automatic Differentiation in MLIR
summary
Implements a sound abstract interpretation of activity analysis inside MLIR, formalizing an MLIR subset amenable to AD and proving correctness; adds a modular function summary scheme that automatically derives summaries and is as precise as whole-program analysis, proving 100% of inactive instructions the whole-program analysis finds. Prototype in Enzyme/MLIR yields up to 3× speedups, geometric-mean 1.24× CPU, 1.7× GPU, and includes evaluated, reproducible artifacts and full proofs.
