Built the same realworld.io Medium clone three ways: Kotlin native (Kotlin + XML), NativeScript (TypeScript + Vue), and Flutter (Dart). Finished apps match visually; code size and perf differ: LOC ~1,140 native (including 500 XML), 230 NativeScript, 470 Flutter + 270 generated; debug APK sizes ~3.6MB, 16MB, 42MB (release ~3.1MB, 10MB/arch, ~6–8MB). Flutter shows higher steady CPU/memory and occasional jank, but the fastest hot reload and easier pixel-accurate UI; Flutter requires codegen for JSON because no reflection. Build times ~30–50s.
