Containerless in the cloud with AWS Lambda

AWS Lambda lets code run without provisioning servers: a JavaScript “hello world” is pasted and deploys in about a minute, billed with 1 million free requests then ~$0.20 per million and duration-based GB‑s. Integrations shown: API Gateway (auto-generated SDKs, staging, usage plans), S3/DynamoDB/Kinesis triggers, Cognito auth, and CloudWatch logging (the only real debugger). Limits: 300s max, 100 concurrent by default, 128KB request / 6MB response, 50MB ZIP / 250MB unpacked, ~112MB /tmp. Java sees a noticeable cold start (~167ms first run); Node is smaller and faster. Use cases: image processing via S3, Alexa skills, scheduled jobs; debugging and complex long-running transactions remain poor fits.
