Lumos is an out-of-core graph processing technique that targets disk-based systems (avoiding full in-memory graphs) and aims to reduce disk I/O for iterative, Bulk Synchronous Parallel-style algorithms. It uses dependency analysis to detect cross-iteration dependencies that are safe to satisfy early, then proactively propagates values out-of-order while preserving disk locality so future iterations don’t have to reload those graph portions.
