A new Ruby-like language called Dubbie compiles Ruby syntax into JVM class files via a pipeline mostly written in Ruby, with pluggable backends and a Java backend that emits bytecode and Java source. Bitescript wraps ASM for bytecode emission. A fractal benchmark drops from ~1.4–1.5s in Ruby to ~0.33s compiled, and invoke dynamic performance in the dynamic variant is about 1.5× slower than primitive Java calls; the design supports invoke dynamic and extensible plugins via the JVM backend.
