A survey of 24 German university websites reports concrete weaknesses: eight universities lack an overall research profile, only eight physics institutes list research topics, publication and project lists are uncommon, and 10 of 24 sites are not responsive. Accessibility checks using WCAG criteria and the WCAG Contrast Finder plugin found missing alt text, poor contrast, invisible keyboard focus, and broken text scaling; CMS analysis shows TYPO3 is the most common system with many custom CMSs, and there is a Java item-based scientific CMS plus ongoing work on ontology-based accessibility tools.
