Day 1 Opening Remarks
summary
RubyConf 2026 opens in Las Vegas with a clear theme past, present, and future of Ruby, announces practical details (QR-code app, Wi‑Fi, venue map, and code of conduct in the app), and thanks staff, volunteers, sponsors, and maintainers. It notes community investments like Ruby Central stewardship of RubyGems and Bundler, admits the organization had a complicated year, and highlights attendance facts—about 20 Ruby comps historically and many repeat and first‑time attendees.
