" summary

Community-run nomination site rubyheroes.com collects nominations and a volunteer panel vets the top nominees, expanding the usual six honorees to eight winners this year. The ceremony cites concrete contributions: GitHub contribution charts, maintenance of Bundler and Rack, a Rails 4 “zombie outlaws” course released free via Code School, and the grassroots Rails Girls program growing into roughly 76 follow-up events. Viddler covers bandwidth for the free videos, and the awards celebrate measurable, ongoing projects.
