summary

Java 21 bundles multiple years of work since Java 17 and ships 15 JEPs including Project Loom’s virtual threads: tens of thousands per platform thread to let simple synchronous code scale dramatically better. It adds an interactive Java Playground in-browser REPL on dev.java for trying features without downloads, promises quarterly security and bug fixes for LTS users, and signals upcoming work on Project Valhalla (memory/layout) and Leyden (startup/warmup).
