My Worst Code Was My Best Code
summary
Shows concrete hacks: Corel Draw macros drive a Windows 3.1 broadcast card to render live weather maps; a VB6 pause-and-continue workflow edits running election software that survives a network outage; an Access MDB-backed in‑memory cache acts as a bespoke DB server via DCOM; HTML DOM manipulation turns ticketing admin into instant client-side edits; a filesystem-based messaging queue ingests 120 TB of EMI Warner Music Group and Sony Records files — all ugly but they work.
