WorkManager offers a single, backwards‑compatible API for guaranteed, deferrable background work that respects doze and OS restrictions and runs via JobScheduler, Firebase JobDispatcher or an AlarmManager fallback. It supports chaining, constraints, OneTimeWorkRequest and periodic jobs (min 15 minutes), queryable LiveData statuses, unique‑work policies (KEEP/REPLACE/APPEND), inputs/outputs limited to 10 KB with optional merging via ArrayCreatingInputMerger, and a TestDriver for synchronous constraint testing.
