Crazy Fun Experiments with PHP (Not for Production)

Talkat Dutch PHP Conference 2019 · 2019-06-06..06-08· [php, creative-coding]
slides:none on file

Shows how PHP source is rewritten on the fly using stream filters and a decorated Composer autoloader so files are passed through transformers before execution, enabling AOP pointcuts, generated generics-like code and even importing esoteric scripts such as Brainfuck via a stream wrapper. Demonstrates an XOR-style decrypt-at-include pipeline, a Composer autoloader overload that returns transformed PHP strings, and caveats: require vs eval differences, no interactive stdin for required scripts, caching and performance make these experiments unusable for production but they do work.
