A Ruby MIDI generator called Archaeopteryx generates beats by throwing random numbers against a probability matrix so patterns are maybe not yes/no but 0–1 probabilities; it embeds lambdas as on-object methods to allow lambda-based strategy/meta-strategy swaps and schedules itself with a lightweight metauler that already runs for over an hour and is slated to run 7 days at Burning Man. It uses the MIDI gem plus continuations, powers synths and VJ software, survived a demo crash and played a Toronto DJ set.
