A production automation layer uses Strophe.js, XMPP4R, ejabberd and BOSH to give TV devices a bidirectional, low‑latency command/response channel that navigates firewalls and relies on SASL for auth. Devices self‑register via in‑band registration, a Ruby gem (vendor) exposes a synchronous DSL built on XMPP4R callbacks and Ruby condition variables, logs flow to Logstash, and the system runs across 60 devices from 17 manufacturers, enabling repeatable playback and ad tests.
