How to Spy with Python

Talkat PyData Berlin 2014 · 2014-07-25..07-27· [security]

Covers specific claims and concrete tools: reproduces PRISM and X key score–style queries and shows scale claims (hundreds of servers, Utah data center). Walks through packet sniffing with scapy to extract HTTP search terms (Yahoo example), parsing SMTP to pull email bodies and attachments, detecting PGP headers, grabbing IRC chats, tracing hops and plotting locations via pgoip and GeoJSON, and mass port discovery with python-nmap to enumerate software versions. Includes counts and sample packet captures so the proof of concept actually runs.
