summary

Conference opens with concrete numbers and logistics: almost 1,000 proposals submitted to CFP, more than 3,000 registered attendees, live captioning and a new venue map and app, plus gender‑neutral restrooms, quiet room, nursing suite and a PyCon challenge card with ice‑cream rewards. Sponsors announce commitments (NVIDIA multi‑year, Fastly five more years serving PyPI), AWS funds a PyPI security role, PSF reports $700k in 2023 grants and 384 billion PyPI downloads cited as scale evidence.
