Internet Safety Labs runs the SafetyPedia pilot (since Oct 2024) to crowdsource mobile app privacy inspections while also developing automation, aiming for labels on >5M apps by 2029 and publishing results at appmicroscope.org. The pilot trains inspectors to capture metadata, observed behaviors and network logs via off-the-shelf proxies. Twenty-five people train, seven certify and complete 161 inspections (112 rechecks, 49 new), adding 318 subdomains, 202 companies and 2 SDKs. Manual company-linking and rescoring slow label generation (first 70 apps took 11 weeks; typical turnaround now ≈ two weeks).
