Live demo walks through using ng build --prod and ngc to drop the in-browser compiler from a 2 MB vendor bundle to ~76 KB served over gzip by uglify and compression the demo removes unused modules (forms, HTTP), uses source-map-explorer to find the compiler at 46% of the bundle, inspects generated .ngfactory output, edits factories to change templates, implements DI by adding provider getters that lazy-create instances, and flips directive flag bits so lifecycle hooks like ngOnInit actually run — the hacks work live against an ng-conf demo app.
