" summary

History of NetBeans device emulators for Nokia/Motorola/SonyEricsson phones and a career spent building community frames the claims: user groups number roughly 364 worldwide with 43 Java user groups in Germany and India at 14, Brazil third; Java Champions run as an independent program since 2005; DevNexus in Atlanta runs ~2,000 attendees and is the longest continually running Java conference. Emphasis on community over tooling, a warning that AI boosts productivity but can suppress questioning, and an invitation to join local user groups and conferences.
