Get Your Head Straight

slides:none on file

HTML is parsed line by line so anything in the head blocks render; the head becomes the single biggest render‑blocking part of a page. A real demo starts at ~9.3s first contentful paint and after reordering tags, self‑hosting assets (saved ~377ms), removing redirects, moving the CSP to the top (saved ~3.7s) and removing @import drops FCP to ~2.6s. Built a diagnostic bookmarklet called CT.CSS that highlights head inefficiencies; core rule: HTML is parsed line by line, head is the single biggest render‑blocking.
