The Return of Shoes

Shoes is a Ruby GUI toolkit that is native to Ruby and uses blocks heavily; it packages apps for Linux, OS X and Windows and runs real native widgets via Cocoa and GTK. Recent work produces Green Shoes (a Ruby-only GTK backend) and a Shoes 3.1 beta that moves to Ruby 1.9.2; Mac and Linux builds run but downloadable Lion binaries still crash unless rebuilt, Windows build is compiling but failing. Hackety Hack is a ~2k-line Shoes app and many 30–40 sample apps run and demo quickly.
