State of AGL: Plumbing and Services
summary
Current AGL iteration is Daring Dab (July 2017) with Electric Eel targeted for January 2018, built on Yocto/Poky and layered metas (meta-agl, meta-qt5, meta-raspberrypi, BSPs for Renesas R-Car M3, i.MX6 and Raspberry Pi). Runtime uses systemd services, SMACK-based sandboxing and Wayland/Weston with an IVI shell, audio routed via PulseAudio plus the Geneva Audio Manager policy engine. Applications are W3C widgets, demo UIs use Qt/QML but are UI independent, and control surfaces talk to backends via JSON over WebSocket bindings implemented as per-app shared libraries.
