AWS reports a dramatic increase in contributions to PostgreSQL over the past two years and helps land features in PostgreSQL 16 released a week ago; work begins in November 2022 to complete logical replication from standbys (an effort started in 2018) and requires cross-company design and testing, code review iterations, and compatibility checks. Other deliverables include open-source trusted language extensions, support for PGVector and the JDBC driver, and ongoing governance and training efforts to sustain a 37-year-old project.
