The evolution of CSS4 Color
summary
CSS4 Color adds ICC profiles and CIE Lab / LCH into CSS with a color() functional syntax that accepts named profiles, alpha and numeric precision; it exposes gamut volumes (sRGB, DCI‑P3, Rec.2020) and recommends using measured device characterizations from a colorimeter or spectrophotometer plus ICC profiles to map display ↔ printer via Lab/XYZ. The spec ships a JavaScript conversion library for XYZ ↔ Lab ↔ LCH ↔ sRGB, but browser implementations and full color‑managed rendering are not yet widely available.
