A ground-up rewrite ships as v6 rewrite with a monorepo that splits backend code per Vue versions (v1, v2, v3) and a decoupled core plus published npm package @vue/devtools-api so third-party libs can add timeline layer events and new inspectors. The front end stays on Vue 2 for now, most core code moves to TypeScript. A new timeline view records mouse/keyboard and component events; plugins can push entries. Editing props/data is not yet implemented but feature parity is planned. Firefox .xpi and Chrome beta builds are available.
