What's New in Spring Boot 2.0

Spring Boot 2.0 moves the Java baseline to Java 8 baseline, upgrades to Spring Framework 5 and adds first-class reactive support via WebFlux + Netty (also works with Tomcat/Jetty/Undertow), replaces legacy metrics with Micrometer + Prometheus integrations, and rewrites actuators to use @Endpoint with tech-independent read/write/delete operations plus web/JMX extensions (works with Jersey and reactive health indicators). Configuration binding fixes list/set behavior, adds origin tracking and Duration support, and a properties migrator helps upgrades. Security auto-configuration is simplified with a single WebSecurityConfigurer and OAuth caveats remain.
