Is Eventmachine a worthy alternative to Node.js?

Benchmarks compare raw EventMachine, Goliath (EM + em-synchrony) and Node.js using hello world and a Redis-backed URL shortener; raw EventMachine beats Node on a MacBook hello world (patchybench), and in the URL-shortener tests raw EventMachine handles many more concurrent requests while Goliath is slower than Node (fiber context switching). Demos and code are on GitHub, runs on Ruby 1.9.2, uses Redis, requires em-friendly gems, and testing/deployment need async-aware tools.
