Lightning Talk: Football, Python & Clean Water
summary
A fundraiser ties football goals to donations, using a Lektor static site with a sign-up form, emailed pledges parsed by Python, game results tallied from match data and stored as YAML files. Six seasons produce €120,000 from 500+ fans; €50 funds water for about 2,500 people. Monthly reminders send pre-filled donation links and optionally encrypted account numbers. The system automates pledge collection, calculation and donor follow-up and it reliably converts goals into paid donations.
