Implements a block‑level incremental backup in PostgreSQL 17 that decides per 8KB blocks which pages to copy, using a background WAL summarizer that emits tiny summary files so restores read only needed data. Requires setting summarize_wal=on (default keep time 10 days), takes incrementals with pg_basebackup --incremental pointing at a prior manifest, verifies with pg_verifybackup and reconstructs full output with pg_combined_backup. Works in testing, supports replicas, tar/cloud read and in‑place consolidation are listed as future work.
