summary

Welcome notes report concrete scale and logistics: 275 registered attendees from 32 countries on six continents, enabled by moving PLMW online so scholarships that normally pay travel aren’t limiting attendance. Sponsors are Amazon, SIGPLAN, and Jane Street, which funds a live professional captioner. The session runs a location “war map” and a freeform poll collecting goals (mentoring, PhD and career advice, networking), and the organizers share the live results in chat.
