Embedded Android #1 - Android Internals

Talkat Linaro Connect Asia 2013 · 2013-03-04..03-08· [android]
slides:none on file

Four-session workshop that peels AOSP apart and shows what actually runs on devices: kernel patches like the wakelock mechanism, the custom libc bionic, user-space pieces such as Zygote preloaded VM and the binder driver/ashmem IPC, plus HAL layout, init/toolbox behavior and build sizes/times (Gingerbread ~3GB download → ~10GB build dir, Jelly Bean ~10GB → ~25GB, builds 20–80 minutes on a quad i7). Good if wanting concrete internals, interfaces and startup behavior.
