" summary

Describes Facebook moving from ad hoc releases to an engineered platform: open-sourced hardware via the Open Compute Project and now 100% OCP in production, PHP runtime replaced by HHVM running at scale, and a new type system/tool called Hack born from two engineers’ static-analysis work. Claims: site deploys code for ~1.2 billion users at least twice a day, developer velocity increases, Hack is opt-in so teams can try before they buy and the rollout is already working in production.
