LearnAwesome.org is an open catalog that collates ideas separately from media, linking multiple formats (book, video, audio) under one entry and offering learning roadmaps for crowded topics; it stores about 20,000 items across ~3,000 topics. Built first as a Ruby on Rails server app with ActivityPub experiments and later rewritten as a Svelte single‑page app loading JSONL catalogs in-browser, it works but relies on heavy manual curation and faces spam, taxonomy and automated classification challenges.
