General Information Welcome to the website of the Erlang 2026 workshop! Series Erlang 2026 is the 25th ACM SIGPLAN Erlang Workshop and is a satellite event of the 31st ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Functional Programming (ICFP 2026). This year the workshop will be hybrid: we encourage authors and participants to attend the workshop in-person, but remote talks and participation will be fully supported. In addition we plan to provide financial support to individuals who might not otherwise be able to attend. Scope The workshop aims to bring together the open source, academic, and i ...

Set-Theoretic Type Checking of Beginner Erlang Code: A Retrospective StudyAlbert Schimpf, Stefan Wehr, Annette Bieniusa24m
Etylizer, a static checker built on set-theoretic types, analyzes five years of student Erlang projects (≈4,600 functions after cleanup) and finds that only…

EMoL: Erlang Messaging and Monitoring over LoRaDaniel Ferenczi, Gergely Ruda, Melinda Toth18m
Library implements Erlang-like messaging and monitoring over LoRa using AtomVM + LoRa driver, exposing erlang:send/2 and monitor_node/2 style APIs so the…

Towards Exact Semantic Equivalence of Erlang BEAM Constructs: Lessons from Advanced(…)Gregory Morse, Melinda Toth29m
Built an emulator in Erlang and decompiler pipeline reproduces BEAM behavior for most cases but exposes four concrete mismatches: binary pattern ops need…

Modern Erlang Teaching from Code Refactoring to Actor System VerificationSergey Staroletov32m
Course presents a five‑step refactoring method that turns imperative file‑traversal code into comma‑free functional composition, uses Taylor series exercises…

A Mechanised Semantics of Erlang’s ReferencesDániel Lukács, Péter Bereczky, Dániel Horpácsi30m
Extends Core Erlang semantics with unique references by encoding evaluation contexts into numbers and mechanised in Rocq. Uses stdpp’s gtree to get an…

Actor Capabilities for Controlled Actor Interactions (Keynote)Colin S. Gordon01h 24m
Defines PIDs as flow‑sensitive reference capabilities so senders get a PID<L> describing allowable message sequences (regular‑language protocols), uses…

Green Benchmarking of BEAM LanguagesYoussef Gharbi, István Bozó, Melinda Toth25m
Built a Docker-based framework that measures energy (joules), throughput, latency and CPU/memory for Erlang, Elixir and Gleam web stacks under static, dynamic…

Reactor Under the Hood: Building a Graph-Based Saga Orchestrator in ElixirJames Harton25m
Reactor implements a dead simple graph algorithm (find nodes with no dependencies, run them, remove them, repeat) as a saga orchestrator in Elixir, using OTP…

Silica: A functional systems language for modern chips, modern tools, and honest(…)Lee Barney37m
Language aims to match modern chips by making actors, effects, and region-owned memory first-class, targeting ARC64 and ESP32S3 and removing the heap so there…
