FProPer 2024
as the organisers put it
The 1st ACM SIGPLAN Workshop on Functional Programming for Productivity and Performance (FProPer’24) follows up on the workshops Functional High-Performance computing (FHPC 2012-2018) and Functional High-Performance and Numerical Computing (FHPNC 2019-2023). While still aiming at high levels of performance, FProPer tries to incorporate the aspect of programmer productivity into the picture. Consequently, FProPer aims to bring together researchers and practitioners that strive to use or develop declarative languages for combining programmer productivity with the highest levels of runtime pe ...

HVM2 is an implemented massively parallel GPU and CPU evaluator for extended interaction combinators that compiles non‑sequential high‑level terms to C and…
| Functional Sparse Tensor Compilation | Shideh Hashemian, Amir Shaikhha | 28m |
A modular compiler named STAR lowers tensor algebra to a functional pipeline (HC → SDQL → LQL → C++) and separates scheduling from data-format decisions so…
| Fusing Gathers with Integer Linear Programming | David van Balen, Gabriele Keller, Ivo Gabe de Wolff, Trevor L. McDonell | 41m |
Extends an existing Integer Linear Programming formulation to fuse combinator programs that include the gather combinator, encoding fusion choices with binary…
| A comparison of OpenCL, CUDA, and HIP as compilation targets for a functional array(…) | Troels Henriksen | 43m |
Compares code generated by the Futhark compiler for Futhark across OpenCL, CUDA, and HIP on an NVIDIA A100 and AMD MI100 using 48 benchmarks and finds…
| Ribbit with Memory Morphisms | Thaïs Baudon, Gabriel Radanne, Laure Gonnord | 51m |
Extends Ribbit to synthesize arbitrary morphisms that transform between two concrete memory layouts and to emit CFG-style programs with explicit allocation…
| Tail Modulo Async/Await | Vivien GACHET, Gabriel Radanne, Ludovic Henrio | 30m |
Defines Destiny passing style as a calling convention that turns async tail and tail-modulo-cons calls into write-once promises so recursive calls allocate…
| From C to Comonads to Climate: A Functional Programmer's Journey in Array Programming(…) | Dominic Orchard | 01h 31m |
Argues that stencil computations fit a comonadic interface and demonstrates a working DSL, ipnos DSL, with Haskell desugaring and 5–10% speedups in prototypes…
